Now, while working out plays a key role in building a healthy lifestyle, we here at GetFitNow know that it’s definitely not the only thing. We also understand that nutrition plays an enormous role in maintaining a healthy body. That’s why we have nutrition meal plans and even GetFitNow meals that are aimed towards helping those who don’t necessarily have the time to plan out their meals but want to eat better and healthier.
Proper nutrition simply can’t be avoided when you’re trying to lose weight or keep your body healthy. Your food should give you lasting energy, keep you full, and keep your blood sugars steady.
Here is a quick list we made of some kitchen staples we think you should add to your diet and why they are beneficial. Take a look and see if you have any one of these foods hiding in your kitchen right now. If they are, make it a mission to include it in your dinner this week! It’ll be fun, plus you’ll be doing your body a huge favor!
1. Low -fat yogurt
Yogurt is a great source of calcium. Plus, it also has live beneficial bacteria that will keep your gut happy and your immune system strong.
2. Green tea
Green tea will increase your metabolism by increasing the rate of which your liver burns fat. Plus, it is refreshing and good for your skin. A win-win in our books!
Whole oats are soluble fiber which will slow down digestion, preventing blood sugar spikes while keeping your hunger under control.
Eggs are a great source of protein! Your body uses more energy to break down protein than any other foods so eating foods high in protein will keep you fuller much longer than carb-heavy foods do. Besides, there are so many ways to cook eggs, you can always switch it up!
Another great source of protein. This high protein grain provides your body with the 9 essential amino acids while still being light and delicious. It a great alternative to rice if you’re used to accompanying it with your meals.
Berries are very rich in antioxidants. Plus, they keep your blood sugar steady with anthocyanins. Studies have also shown that they work to keep your heart and eyes healthy as well.
Avocados have more protein and soluble fiber than any other fruit. They even provide more potassium than bananas! The fat content from the avocado will slow down digestion which will prevent any spikes in your blood sugar levels.
