It’s totally okay to fall off the wagon sometimes. Life has its moments and we want to be there for a lot of them so we can’t always be on A game. Holidays happen and it’s okay to take a break from your usual routine. At one point, we may even end up over-indulging ourselves and cutting back on our hours at the gym. Still, the point is to not beat yourself up about it, get back on it and keep going.
Here’s some tips on how you can get back on track and hit your summer goals!
1. Prep your mornings
Pack your healthy meals the night before so you’re ready to bring them to work the next day. Also, pack your gym bag and leave it near the door so you won’t forget. Make no room for excuses.
If you want to prep your meals a few days in advance but you’re unsure of how to start, read our post on How to Meal Prep to get yourself started on the basics.
2. Find a workout buddy
Accountability is so important, especially when you’re trying to get back into the hang of things. Run with a friend or make sure you have someone who can keep you on track. Finding a workout buddy can help motivate you in so many ways. Let’s all motivate each other to greatness!
3. Keep your body hydrated
You want to make sure your body is properly hydrated so stock up on water. Water can also help you cut back on your cravings for sugary foods. Drink about half your body weight in water each day to keep your pH levels balanced and everything running smoothly.
Also, you don’t have to drink it plain, add some fruits and cucumbers to make it refreshing and tasty. Check out our post on Detox Waters where we give you a recipe for a total body cleanse!
4. Kick up the Cardio
Increase your cardio to get your body to burn through any of the stored fat in your muscles. HIIT is great because it also includes strength-training exercises to help you build muscle which will increase your body’s ability to burn through all that unwanted fat.
5. Sleep it off
You need lots of sleep to recharge your body and get it ready for the workouts ahead. A proper night’s sleep will promote fat loss and reduce your fat storage. Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
