Staying Motivated

Staying motivated is crucial when you have a goal you are trying to reach.  Every day you must remind yourself of that goal and try your best to reach it! At Get Fit Now Fitness Studio, we have come up with a few tips for keeping on track.

Set Goals.

Get your self a journal and write down your goals (both small and big goals).  Be detailed and positive!    A positive goal example could be something like “choose to reach a body fat percentage of 18%, rather than the negative “I will lose all this body fat”.

Set Reminders.

Post your goals where you can see them every day.  Create an inspiration board with photos, quotes and inspiring pictures. (perhaps an outfit you would like to buy in a smaller size).  If you feel a snack attack coming on each day around 3 pm, set your cell phone alarm at that time with a “Remember your goal” as the title.  Try out different things to help keep you motivated.

Plan.

We love the quote, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”.  In your journal that your wrote your goals in, write your plan of action to reach them.  Are you willing to work out everyday?  Pack your own meals and snacks? Practicing meditation?  Whatever it is, plan it!

Visualize.

Imagine how you will feel once you reach your goals. Really visualize yourself feeling accomplished and proud.  Take a moment and remember it! Use it as fuel to push you towards whatever it is you are working towards.  And as soon as you feel like quitting, take a moment to meditate on that thought.

Make sure to reward yourself every time you achieve your weekly goals. This could be as simple as treating yourself to a manicure/pedicure after a long, hard week of working out or as rewarding as a massage for all your hard work. Whatever rewards will keep you going are the ones you should be giving yourself.

Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Everyone falls short sometimes. If you fail to meet your goals for the week, take it as a lesson. Review what obstacles got in the way and just make the proper adjustments for the following week.  Just accept it as a human occurrence, and continue working towards your goals.  Know that you are doing your best and continue on your fitness journey with the proper tools. (example, meal prepping, scheduling your workouts, etc.)

We hope these tips help you achieve all the goals you set for yourself.  Remember, small progress is better than no progress!  If you were to lose only 1/2 pound of body fat each week, in 52 weeks you will have lost 26  pounds!
