Sandy Springs Fitness Studio Shares Tips on How to Survive the Holiday's!

This is the time of year where everyone gets swept up in traveling, eating and spending.  A lot of times people end up putting their fitness goals on the back burner because of various distractions.  How can you stay motivated when there is so much to be done and so much delicious food around?  Here are some tips to help you stay motivated and to keep you on track with your fitness goals.

  1. Continue Working Out

Just because it’s cold outside and the holidays around the corner is no reason to skip out on a workout.  You will feel much better if you continue to workout during this time and it will help you stay away from packing on the pounds during the holiday season.

  1. Bundle Up

Keep warm on your way to your workout.  Try wearing layers and sweat pants over your workout attire on the way to the gym that way you will stay comfy on your way there and on your way back home.

  1. Stay Hydrated

Make sure you are drinking lots of water, which will help you with your hunger cravings.  In the winter most people want to indulge in a hot cup of espresso or coffee.  Some of these drinks have excessive sugars and calories. Instead save yourself the calories and opt in for hot tea and sweeten it with Stevia, which is zero calories and tastes delicious.

  1. Get a workout buddy

Working out with a friend can help you stay on track and give you a chance to be social at the same time.  Having a workout buddy can help you both to stay on track with both diet and exercise.

  1. Give active gifts

Get a friend a certificate to a workout class, which would be something you could do together.  Or sign up for the Get Fit Now 28 day little black dress project.  Giving active gifts is just another way you can make fitness a passion for yourself.

  1. Plan ahead

If you know you are going to an event where there will be lots of unhealthy food then plan to make that your cheat day.  You could also bring one healthy dish that way you know at least one dish will be healthy.

  1. Portion Size

You can still indulge in your favorite casseroles and deserts. However, you should try not to go overboard.  Make sure your portions are small and that you don’t go back for seconds.  If you are going to multiple holiday dinners in one day then pace yourself and don’t eat a ton at the first one or vice versa.

By following these tips there is no doubt that you will be able to survive the holidays and stay on track with your fitness goals.

Happy Holiday’s!
