Sandy Springs Personal Trainer Shares 6 Skinny Holiday Cocktails

There’s no better way to celebrate and survive Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s than with yummy skinny cocktails.

Whether you’re toasting with family or ringing in the New Year, these skinny cocktails will help you celebrate without setting you back in the gym a couple days.

 

Pomegranate Martini

Ingredients

1 ounce vodka

½ ounce Cointreau orange liqueur

3 ounces pomegranate juice (I like Pom Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice)

Juice of ½ lime

1 slice lime for garnish

Sugar to coat the martini glass rim, optional


Instructions

  1. Dip the martini glass rim in water and then dip in a little sugar to coat the rim, if desired
  2. Add vodka, Cointreau, pomegranate juice and lime juice in a cocktail shaker that has been ¼ filled with ice.  Shake and strain into a cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with a slice of lime and serve.

Calories: Recipe makes 1 martini, 200 calories

 

Festive Spiced Wine

Ingredients

1 bottle Red Wine

3/4 cup Bulleit Bourbon

1 1/2 cup Orange Juice

2 1/4 cup Apple Cider

1 Apple (sliced)

1 cinnamon stick

12 fresh cloves

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a large pot and simmer on low for 20 min
  2. Strain into a pitcher or punch bowl and serve slightly warm
  3. Enjoy!

Calories: Recipe makes 12, 5oz servings with about 110 calories each

Bourbon NogTini

Ingredients

5 oz Bourbon

2 oz Silk Holiday Nog

5 oz Light Almond Milk

Dash Pumpkin Pie Spice

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for 5-10 seconds
  2. Strain, serve, cheers, enjoy!

Calories: Recipe makes one 5oz martini with about 140 calories.

 

Sparking Apple Hot Toddy

Ingredients

6 oz Crisp Apple Sparkling ICE

1 1/2 oz whisky or apple brandy

1 tsp honey

Cinnamon stick, star anise, and apple slices

Directions

  1. Coat the bottom of a coffee cup with honey
  2. Add whisky or brandy
  3. Warm crisp apple sparkling ice into a small sauce pot
  4. Pour it into the glass
  5. Stir the ingredients
  6. Garnish with cinnamon stick, star anise, and apple slices

Calories: 160 calories per serving

Spiked Almond Joy Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz. (3 tbsp.) coconut rum

1 packet Swiss Miss Sensible Sweets Diet Hot Cocoa Miz

1 drop almond extract

Optional: Fat Free Reddi-wip

Directions

  1. Prepare cocoa with 3/4 cup hot water according to package isntructions
  2. Add the rum and one drop almond extract
  3. Stir and top with a generous squirt of Reddi-wip
  4. Enjoy!

Calories: 124 calories per serving

Skinny Peppermint Mojito

Ingredients

4 limes, cut into wedges

1/2 cup crushed mint leaves, plus 4 sprigs for garnish

1/4 cup stevia in the raw

1 drop peppermint extract

16 oz lime sparkling water

6 oz white rum

Optional: candy cane/crushed peppermints for garnish

Ice cubes

Directions

  1. Optional garnish: Dip glass rims in lime juice
  2. In a pitcher, place lime wedges, mint leaves, sugar and extract
  3. Mash mint, sugar, and peppermint extract into limes with a muddler or wooden spoon to release juice and blend flavors
  4. Stir in sparkling water and rum
  5. Divide evenly among 4 glasses filed with ice, garnish with mint springs and candy cane
