Happy Friday Everyone!
Earlier this week, we released GetFitNow’s July Calendar to help you and so many other women realize their current beauty and celebrate it as you work towards the body you want.
We made this calendar because we know that with current social media opinions of beauty, it can be so hard to love your body and share the encouragement with those around you. So here is a post we wanted to share with all of you to help you see the importance of loving your body.
To fully love and accept your body, there are 3 things I want you to realize…
1. Happiness is NOT a body shape.
You think that if you could just get skinnier, curvier, taller, or shorter, people will love you more. You will get more attention, more friends, a better job, and be happier. We look at the happy models online and in magazines and think “that is what happiness looks like.” Every body shape is beautiful. YOUR body is beautiful. If you do not start out with self-love, you will never truly be happy with your body, no matter how you look. There are plenty of models who still think they could be skinnier or curvier. Do not let their bodies or the shape of your own body define your happiness. The pictures in magazines are just constructed images, YOU are real and you are beautiful. There is and never will be a weight limit for beauty.
2. Numbers DO NOT define you.
You are so much more than a number on a scale. Your worth does not depend on the amount of followers you have, the number of friends you have, the number of calories you eat, the amount you can lift or the size of your jeans. Those numbers only tell one part of the story. They don’t tell you what a wonderful mother or loving daughter you are. They don’t tell you how awesome your personality is or how happy your friends are to spend time with you. They don’t tell you how beautiful you still look in your favorite dress or how funny you really are. Those numbers don’t know anything else about you so don’t let them change how you think about yourself.
3. Your body is NOT the enemy
It seems so much easier to say something negative about our body rather than to say something positive. “My thighs are too big. My legs are short. I hate my stomach. I don’t like my arms.” Do you even remember the last time you said something nice to your body? There are many things that can go wrong around you but your body has been there for you since Day 1. It has kept you alive and has shown you so many great things in life. Those big thighs you hate? They have held you up and brought you to so many places. They are strong and they are powerful. They can run for miles without stopping and they will support you even through your weakest moments. Please take a moment to realize everything your body has done for you and remember how you’ve treated it. Your body never has been your enemy. In fact, it has been your best friend. So do yourself a favor and love it with everything you’ve got.
“Love and appreciate your body for what it is, it is the most amazing thing you will ever own.”
I really hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I did writing it. Please spread the love by passing this along to anyone you think needs to hear it right now. We are strong and beautiful women and it’s time we show it to the world.
Happy July 4th tomorrow everyone!
