With the summer behind us, and our sun-soaked skin probably feeling dry, we would love to share this delightful homemade coconut oil body butter recipe with you. Sure, there’s A LOT of moisturizers out there on the market, but if you’re like us, we sometimes question what we are actually putting on our bodies, and ultimately getting absorbed into our pores. Natural is always the way to go, and nothing is better than coconut oil as a moisturizer….it’s pure, natural, and inexpensive.
Coconut oil has so many wonderful benefits and putting it onto our skin not only feels wonderful but the fatty acids in this oil have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties, and they also serve as antioxidants which protect your skin. So this simple recipe is not only super light and fluffy and feels like heaven on your skin, but is essentially food for your skin! Why not give this coconut oil body butter a try? Coconut Oil Body Butter Recipe
- 1 cup Coconut Oil
- 1 teaspoon Vitamin E Oil (optional)
- a few drops of your favorite essential oils for fragrance
- Put ingredients into a mixing bowl.
- Mix on high speed with a wire whisk for 5 minutes or until whipped into a light, airy consistency. (An electric hand mixer works really well, as does a stand mixer).
- Spoon the whipped coconut oil body butter into a glass jar (mason jars are great for this) and cover tightly. Store at room temperature!
Please note: a blender or food processor will NOT work with this recipe because they tend to warm the oil too much and prevent it from whipping up.
This homemade body butter should stay relatively soft, even at colder temps, but if you decide to refrigerate (which you certainly have the option of doing!) it will become a little more solid, but not rock hard.
This will feel like heaven on your skin – we promise! You may notice your body butter beading into a froth of tiny coconut pearls that melt right into your skin. Its truly devine!

Homemade Coconut Macaroons
– 1 cup of shredded coconut (sweetened)
– 3 tbsps of egg whites
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Next, whisk the egg whites with the shredded coconut. Then spray the cooking sheet with coconut oil and measure out about half a tablespoon of the coconut and egg white mixture and place it onto the sheet. Do this until all of it is gone and spread them evenly throughout the sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes in the oven.
