Tell us about yourself.

My name is Christy Shivers. I am 50 years old and very active in sports, I play Tennis, Golf

Run 5K’s (and also the Peachtree road race every year). About 7 years ago I went on a

clean eating diet and lost 55 pounds and got down to a Size 2-4 I was so totally thrilled and loved life.

What made you decide to make a change in your life?

I have struggled with my weight about all my life. I have tried about every diet out there. But did not put going to the gym into the equation until a few years ago. I went to a

Gym for a while until I had an injury while playing golf. So I quit going. Then my weight slowly

started upward again and awoke one day and none of my clothes fit. I got really depressed and

totally quit doing anything. I kept saying I will start tomorrow, then next week, and it became

a never ending cycle.

What goals did you set for yourself in order to make a change?

Then the Little Black Dress challenge showed up on my

Facebook page and said I’m doing it. My goal was to lose weight and get my strength and core balance back again. One of my favorite places to go is the beach. Last year I went and once there

I put on my swim suit and was totally disgusted of what I had done to myself. This year I want

to be able to go and be totally fit.

How did you keep yourself motivated to keep going?

I know it is very easy for me to get into bad habits again.

I know when I workout and do my strength and core exercise I feel on top of the world again.

I have started journaling as well every day I write down what I have eaten/planned for that day

Along with what Cardio/ strength challenges I have to do. So it make me true to myself.

How has joining Get Fit Now contributed to your success?

The Little Black Dress Challenge showed up on Facebook and decided I’m going to do it. I met the Team and learned it was time to take control again. Emily and Dustin posting meal plans and them saying to meal prep for the week. I have learned it is

the best way to have your meals ready and at your fingertips. I do love the gym program it is

fast paced and the 45 min’s goes quite fast. Also the team posts updates, challenges, and motivational quotes that keeps you honest with yourself.
