Here are 5 of our best tips on how to get slim and STAY slim. By just making these 5 really small changes in your everyday life, you will see a HUGE difference on the scale.
1. Drink a glass of water before every meal.
Simple enough right? Grabbing a glass before every meal helps food move through your system and makes you feel full so you don’t overeat. So make it a habit to drink a glass of water before breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and even before you wake up so you can start off the day properly hydrated!
2. Eat protein with every meal
You can get protein from meats, eggs, or even milk and cheese. Protein helps build muscle and boost your metabolism, which supports overall weight-loss. Protein also keeps you feeling full longer because it takes your body much longer to break down.
An easy way to measure the amount of protein you should eat per day is about half of your body weight in grams. So if you’re 150 pounds, you would need to consume around 75 grams of protein a day. Now this isn’t a hard and fast rule, but it’s what works with most people. Just make sure you’re spreading out the amount of protein over the whole course of your day and you’re good to go!
3. Eat on a smaller plate
Logically, you should eat until you’re full but most of us have also been conditioned to eat until we’re done. A bigger plate will make your portion seem smaller which may cause you to think that you’re not getting enough food. Smaller plates will make it seem like you’re eating a larger portion because it fills up your whole plate.
4. Go to bed (a little) hungry
When you sleep, your body burns fat regardless of what time you eat. But if you were to stop your meals at 8 p.m., you’ll allow your body to burn fat and sugar sooner (at about 1 a.m.). Don’t outright starve, just don’t eat too late so your body will have more time to process the food.
5. Sleep more
Sleep is so important to losing weight but so many of us seem to neglect it. Sleep is good for your brain and body because it allows for recovery time. Not getting enough sleep at night can actually lead to weight gain. By getting more sleep, you stop yourself from late-night snacking and you burn more calories. Furthermore your brain is more focused because with lack of sleep, you are actually more likely to grab sugary treats to make up for the loss of energy.
